Gaia is creating an extraordinarily precise three-dimensional map of more than a thousand million stars throughout our Milky Way galaxy. Using this data, the focus of tonight's talk will be on the area of Galactic Archaeology and the history of the Milky Way

About The Event

Our speaker tonight, Dr Anke Ardern-Arentsen, is an observational astronomer in the field of Galactic Archaeology. She works on the formation and evolution of the ancient Milky Way and the first stellar structures in the early Universe, using observations of old, metal-poor stars.  The focus of tonight's talk will be on the area of Galactic Archaeology and the history of the Milky Way
