The colours of stars
Sat 25 Apr
|Institute of Astronomy
"Twinkle, twinkle little star" goes the nursery rhyme, but stars come in a range of colours from Red, through Yellow/Orange through to White and Blue. This month we'll talk about what the different colours mean and what they can tell us about the size, age and temperature of stars.

About The Event
This month we'll first have a look at the different colours and what they tell us about the temperature of the stars. We'll then go on to talk about the evolution of stars and how we map them using the H-R diagram. We'll talk about the way we can discover what a star is made of using spectroscopy, and then spend some time looking at the Super Giant stars and the Dwarves.
