Arriving by car -

The post code CB3 0HA will take you to the Institute, but it is for the library-building entrance, which is not usable by the public - you should use the west entrance, about 200m further out of the city as shown below.
If coming from the M11: You can leave the motorway at junction 13, but only if arriving from the south (similarly, when returning you can join only the south-bound carriageway at junction 13 - junction 13 has access from/to the south only). Travelling east toward Cambridge along Madingley Road (A428), take a turn on the left into the grounds of the Institute of Astronomy.
If coming from Cambridge: Travelling west out of Cambridge along Madingley Road (A428), take a turn on the right into the grounds of the Institute of Astronomy.
On the map below, the entrance to the grounds of the Institute is at the bottom-left corner. There is a car park on the right-hand side as one enters the grounds, and the Hoyle Building (where we hold our meetings) is the second building as you walk up the hill. During the winter months, you may want to bring a hand torch as the footpaths are not lit.

BUSES
The Institute of Astronomy is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Cambridge. Buses to the centre are frequent (Citi 4, X3, 905, U1, U2, 8) and stop outside or near the IoA. There are also frequent Park & Ride buses from the nearby Madingley Road Park & Ride which is also suitable for parking for the 4, 8, X3, 905 . On the map below, the P & R is about a ten-minute walk from the IoA
